PARTICIPATION

 

There are several rules regarding the participation of a country in the contest and they are listed below.

 

1.    Everyone who wants to participate must sent an submission via our online forms (website and instagram)

2.    In order to take part in one edition, the Hod must confirm within the given deadline for confirmation. If the Hod does not confirm their participation before the deadline, then they are not allowed to participate.

3.    If the country is not a member of Rralz Council, then an application must be made to the council with the appropriate information.

4.    It doesn't exist any rule for owning one country, but if an user wants to keep the same country for more editions than that user can preconfirm one edition before.

The official rules of the Rralz Song Contest are many so please read carefully!

These rules were updated in the 64th edition.

PRE-CONFIRM

The pre-confirmed delegations are always the ones which scored from 6th to 1st in the previous edition. They have priority to chose their countries before the official confirmations start!

WAITING LIST

The new HoD’s wanting to participate in the contest will be added to the official waiting list and will be given an free spot if there is any.

ENTRIES

Before selecting an entry, each broadcaster must take into consideration the following rules.

1.    Songs that have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest or its Junior version are not allowed to take part in the contest.

2.    Songs that have been released before 2000 are not allowed to take part in the contest.

3.    Songs that cover or sample another song are not allowed to take part in the contest.

4.    Songs that have been revamped or remixed are not allowed to take part in the contest. However, if the remix is the official one published by the singer it may be considered by Rralz Council.

5.    There are no restrictions regarding the language; the song can be in any language, no matter the country it represents.

ROOTS

To be eligible to participate, the artists should have the requirements as follow:

 

1.    Native of that country (born)

2.    Have strong roots (Its parents origins but not further)

3.    In some cases, the Rralz Council can also take in consideration that some artists can participate for some countries since their music career is mostly focused in the industry of the country they seek to participate for. 

 

However this will always be decided by the council if it's going to be accepted or not.

SELECTION PROCESS

An entry can be either selected via an internal or a national selection. However, there are some rules applying to both and they are listed below.

 

Internal selection

In case of an internal selection, the HoD must follow some rules when selecting an entry:

 

1.    The artist must be native to the country, or have roots.

2.    The song must be submitted to the Rralz Council  before the given songs deadline.

3.    The song must be presented within the given songs deadline.

 

National selection

In case of an internal selection, the HoD's must follow some rules when organizing a national selection:

 

1.    All the artists must be native from the country the selection takes place in.

2.    Artists that have roots from the country are allowed to compete as well, as long as their connection with the country is strong enough..(Only Parents)

3.    There are no rules regarding the amount of songs, the length or the voting system of the selection.

4.    The national selection can start only after the confirmations of the edition have opened.

5.    The results of the selection have to be presented before the given songs deadline. However, the HoD is allowed to submit a request for a later result presentation.

Additional rules for National Finals:

Strikes of National Finals:

1. If the HoD confirms that will make an National Final and in the end don't do it without notice, it will get -2 points in Users Scoreboard.

2.If the HoD that made the National Final choses another performer than the winner of the selection, it will lose -2 points in Users Scoreboard.

BORROWING

Some countries that have smaller music industries are allowed to borrow from neighbouring or countries they have connections with.

They do not need to host a national selection in order to select an artist from their borrowing country.

 

These countries are the following:

 

1.    Kosovo/Albania

2.    Cyprus/Greece

3.    Monaco/France

4.    San Marino/Italy

5.    Liechtenstein/Austria

6.    Andorra/Spain

7.    Guam/Usa***

 

*** (In this case the council may allow if they find it fair, to allow 1 or 2 more countries to borrow from United States, since their Overseas Territory are many) 

 

However the council can also decide for other countries to borrow if the actual country don't have its own music developped.

MEMBERS OF RRALZ COUNCIL

Rralz Council membership is open to authorized broadcasting organizations from countries which are either within the European Broadcasting Area (as defined by the ITU) or, if their country is outside that area and are part of the Rralz Agreement Code.

The Council  represents and defends the interests of its Members within all spheres and by any appropriate means. 

 

Rralz Council is  responsible for the organizing and the developping of Rralz Song Contest.

JOIN THE RRALZ COUNCIL

To join, applicants must prove that they meet all the membership criteria, by submitting a point-by-point application on a form which is available (in English). 

Applications for membership may be submitted at any time, consultations are then held within the relevant Rralz Council.

The length of the admission process depends on the schedule of the Council members meetings as well as the completeness of the application documentation.

PUNISHMENT

In case of any HoD breaking the above rules, the HoD is punished by either receiving a strike or getting banned from the contest, depending on the rule that was broken. 

 

If a HoD gets three strikes, the HoD is suspended for one edition and can return to the contest aferwards..

 

·       A HoD can get a strike for

1.    Failing to submit their votes before the given voting deadline. (Without notice)

2.    Sending an entry without getting approval from the Rralz Council

3.    Failing to present their entry before the given songs deadline.

4.    Cheating in a national selection.

 

·       A HoD can be banned for 1 edition from:

1.    Getting three strikes.

2.    Cheating once on voting.

·       A HoD can be banned forever for:

1.    Cheating repeatedly in the voting process of the contest. 

2.    Getting 5 strikes.

USERS SCOREBOARD

Every user participating in the contest can earn points if they reach different goals.

 

If an HoD achieves an SuperFinal spot it will be rewarded as follow:

1. When you win your group you earn 4 points.

2. When you reach top 15-18 you earn 2 points.

3. When you reach top 11-14 in the Super Final, you earn 4 points.

4. When you reach top 8-10 in the Super Final, you earn 6 points.

5. When you reach top 6-7 in the Super Final, you earn 8 points.

6. When you reach top 4-5 in the Super Final, you earn 10 points.

7. When you reach the 3rd place in the Super Final, you earn 13 points.

8. When you reach the 2nd place in the Super Final, you earn 16 points.

9. When you win the Super Final, you earn an total of 20 points  

  • When you qualify from Semi-Finals to the Grand Final, you earn 2 points.

  • When you qualify from Grand Final to the Super Final, you earn 2 points.

  • (The Winner also takes the status of Host, which gives the AQ status to the Super Final of next edition).

HOSTING

The contest will take place in the country of the previous winning country!

The host cities and venues will be decided by Rralz Council.

Rralz Council has the authority to change or either keep the same countries in an specific group.

The rulebook will be reviewed each 4 editions, but in need of any changes the Council can reconsider.
